Hold product at temperature in transit without the regulatory and handling overhead of actual dry ice (solid CO2). Cryophase’s disposable packs are purpose-built for single-use shipping — simpler construction than our reusable range, priced to match the one-way use case.
Activation
A 2-ply construction (non-woven textile plus PET plastic) is deliberately simpler than the 4-ply reusable format, which means faster, more forgiving hydration. A few minutes’ soak is enough for the super-absorbent polymer core to convert fully into a stable, cold-holding gel — no guesswork on saturation time.
Thermal performance
Despite the lighter construction, cold-hold time is up to 7x that of standard ice — the polymer’s latent heat capacity does the heavy lifting, not pack thickness. Shipments stay within spec even on extended transit routes.
Typical applications
- Pharmaceutical shipments — medicines, specimens, vaccines
- Supermarkets and online grocery — chilled food, seafood, meat
- Food manufacturing — chocolate, cheese, and other temperature-sensitive goods
- Any one-way cold chain shipment where reuse isn’t part of the logistics model
Engineering and compliance features
- Cost-effective — sized and built for one-way shipping economics, not over-specified
- Non-hazardous — no special air or ground transport handling required, unlike dry ice (CO2)
- Fast activation — no pre-treatment beyond a water soak
- Conformable — flexible gel fills irregular packaging voids rather than leaving cold gaps
- Leak-proof — gel matrix doesn’t separate or weep under normal handling
- FDA-approved — cleared for direct or indirect food contact
- Cut-to-size — trim to the exact footprint a shipment needs, with no wasted refrigerant mass
For high-volume one-way cold chain shipping, this is refrigerant mass matched precisely to the job — not a scaled-down version of a reusable product.
